湖南师范大学地理科学学院源于1938年建立的国立师范学院史地系,八十余年以来,历经艰难创业和快速发展的不平凡过程,现已成为湖南省办学历史最悠久、人才培养体系最完整、培养层次最高、学术研究实力和社会服务能力最强的地理学人才培养和科学研究基地,具有明显的综合优势和鲜明的办学特色。

学院下设地理科学系、城乡规划系、地理信息工程系和土地科学系,并成立了资源与环境研究所、国土研究所、地理信息系统研究中心、区域经济与社会发展研究中心。开设有地理科学、人文地理与城乡规划、地理信息科学、土地资源管理等4个本科专业。其中地理科学、人文地理与城乡规划、土地资源管理专业是国家级一流本科专业建设点,地理信息科学专业是湖南省一流本科专业建设点;地理科学是湖南省首批通过教育部师范类专业二级认证的专业。

学院有高水平的师资队伍。现有教职员工93人,其中专任教师75人。专任教师中,教授24人,副教授21人,讲师30人,具有博士学位的教师占比达89.3%以上。既有包括国家杰出青年科学基金获得者、全国模范教师等在内的知名学者;也有包括教育部新世纪优秀人才支持计划入选者、湖南省芙蓉学者、湖南省杰出青年基金获得者、湖湘青年英才等在内的一大批发展潜力强劲的中青年才俊。

学院具有良好的教学科研平台。主体学科“地理学”为湖南省“十五”“十一五”“十二五”重点学科,2018年入选湖南省国内一流培育学科,2022年入选湖南省“十四五”重点学科,在第四轮学科评估获评B类学科的基础上,第五轮学科评估结果取得新突破。拥有地理学博士后科研流动站和地理学一级学科博士点,拥有资源与环境硕士、教育硕士、公共管理硕士等专业硕士点(方向)。建设有“地理空间大数据挖掘与应用”“洞庭湖流域生态环境变化与固碳增汇”2个湖南省重点实验室、“洞庭湖流域资源利用与生态环境保护”湖南省高校重点实验室、“资源环境实践教学”湖南省示范实验中心、“资源综合利用”湖南省大学生创新训练中心、“资源环境”湖南省普通高校大学生创新创业教育中心、“地理科学”湖南省校企合作创新创业教育基地和湖南省青少年科普教育基地等。另有“环境重金属污染机理与生态修复”“城乡转型过程与效应”“生态预测与全球变化”等3个校级重点实验室。

学院人才培养成效显著。已培养了10000余名理论知识扎实、创新思维活跃、综合素养一流的毕业生,涌现出杨开忠、魏后凯、张伟然、张运林、彭新华、龙花楼、邹滨、田怀玉、李军、郭辉军、汤放华、龙献忠、蒋忠诚、石建平、彭伟、何向明、曾标志等在教学、科研、管理、实业及其他领域有重要影响的优秀校友。

学院以地理学为主体,融合生态学、环境学、经济学、社会学和管理学等学科的理论与方法,长期坚持对我国亚热带地区、江南丘陵山地区、洞庭湖流域、长株潭城市群等区域人地系统的综合研究,在全球变化与生态预测、水旱灾害形成机理与防控、环境污染与生态修复、土地利用与土地覆盖变化、城乡转型与乡村发展、城市群成长机理与调控、国土空间规划、地理空间大数据挖掘、自然资源遥感监测等领域开展创新性研究,取得了一系列重要成果。近10年来,学院教师先后完成包括国家自然科学基金、国家社会科学基金、国家科技支撑计划、国家重点研发计划等在内的国家级课题80余项,省部级课题200余项,厅局级及横向课题800余项,到账项目经费超2亿元;在Nature Plants,PNAS,Science Bulletin,地理学报等国内外高水平学术刊物发表学术论文1000余篇,出版学术著作和教材30余部;获得省部级及以上教学和科技成果奖励10余项。

学院积极开展对外交流活动,在国际上已与美国、加拿大、日本、俄罗斯、德国、丹麦、澳大利亚、波兰等国家的知名大学和研究所建立了紧密的合作关系。在国内与中国科学院、浙江大学、北京师范大学、武汉大学、南京大学、华东师范大学、中国农业大学等国内高水平研究机构及大学建立了密切的学术交流机制,有关学术骨干定期或不定期进行学术互访,互派学生联合培养,开展项目合作研究。10年中,近20位教师先后出国访学或开展合作研究,主办国际性学术会议4次,主办包括中国区域科学协会学术年会、中国地理学会人文地理学术年会、巩固拓展脱贫攻坚成果同乡村振兴有效衔接学术年会、全国首届女地理学家大会等在内的全国性学术会议10余次。

放眼未来,学院将全面贯彻党的教育方针,落实立德树人根本任务,秉承“仁、爱、精、勤”校训精神,持续深化教育教学改革,紧密对接和服务国家及地方经济社会发展的战略需求,坚定走以质量提升为核心的内涵式发展道路,踔厉奋发,笃行不怠,朝着国内一流、国际上有一定影响的地理科学学院的目标奋勇前进。


Brief introduction of the School of Geographic Sciences

The School of Geographic Sciences of Hunan Normal University originated from the Department of History and Geography of the National Normal College which founded in 1938. After an extraordinary process of more than 80 years of starting its own business, struggling to move forward and making rapid progress, the school has now become the geographic talent cultivation and scientific research base of Hunan Province with the longest history of school running, the most complete talent education system, the highest education level, and the strongest academic research strength and social service ability, which has obvious comprehensive advantages and distinct school-running characteristics.

At present, the school consists of four departments of Geographical Science, Geographic Information Engineering, Urban-rural Planning and Land Science, and has build the Institute of Resources and Environment, the Institute of Land Research, the Research Center of Geographic Information System and Research Center of Regional Economic and Social Development.The schoolhas four undergraduate majors, including Geographical Science, Human Geography and Urban-Rural Planning, Geographic Information Science and Land Resource Management. Among them, Geographical Science, Human Geography and Urban-Rural Planning and Land Resource Management are enrolled by the national first-class undergraduate major construction program, Geographic Information Science is enrolled by the provincial first-class undergraduate major construction program, and Geography Science is one of the first-batch of majors in Hunan Province that passed the second-level certification of normal major by the Ministry of Education of China.

The school has a high-level teaching faculty. There are 93 faculty members, including 75 full-time teachers. The full-time teachers include 24 professors, 21 associate professors and 30 lecturers. The percentage offull-time teacher with doctorate degree is more than 89.3%. The school has many well-known scholars, including the National Outstanding Young Talent and the National Outstanding Teacher, as well as many young talents with strong innovative potentials, including those that supported by the“New Century Talent support program”of the Ministry of Education of China,the“Furong Scholar program”of Hunan Province,the Hunan Provincial Outstanding Young Talent and Huxiang Young Talent.

The school has excellent teaching and scientific research platforms. Geography, the core discipline of the school, is the provincial key discipline of the10th,11th and 12th Five-year Plans in Hunan Province.In 2018, it has been selected in to the Domestic First-Level Cultivation Discipline of Hunan Province; and in 2022, it has been selected into the key discipline of the 14thFive-year Plans in Hunan Province.In the 4th-round of national discipline evaluation,it has been rated as the B-category discipline, and had made new breakthroughin the 5th-round of national discipline evaluation.The school has a post-doctoral research station of Geographyand afirst-level disciplinedoctoral program of Geography, as well as professional master programs of Resources and Environment, Education and Public Administration. The school has two Hunan Provincial Key Laboratories, namely,“Geo-spatial Big Data Mining and Application” and “Eco-environmental Changes and Carbon Sequestration of the Dongting Lake Basin”. The school also has the Key Laboratory of“Resource Utilization and Ecological Environment Protection in Dongting Lake Basin”for Universities in Hunan Province, the Hunan Provincial Demonstration Experimental Center of “Resource and Environment Practice Teaching”,the Hunan Provincial Innovation Training Center for Undergraduate Students of “Comprehensive Utilization of Resources”,the Hunan Provincial Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Center for College Students of“Resources and Environment”,the Hunan Provincial School-Enterprise Cooperative Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Base of “Geographical Sciences”,the Hunan Provincial Science-Popularizing Education Base for youth and so on. The school has three university-level Key Laboratories, namely,“Mechanism of Environmental Heavy Metal Pollution and Ecological Restoration”,“Urban and Rural Transformation Process and Effect”and“Ecological Forecasting and Global change”.

The school has achieved remarkable results in talent training. It has cultivated more than 10,000 graduates with solid theoretical knowledge, active innovative thinking and excellent comprehensive quality, including a large group of outstanding alumni who are influential in teaching, scientific research, management, industry and other fields, such as Kaizhong Yang, Houkai Wei, Weiran Zhang, Yunling Zhang, Xinhua Peng, Hualou Long, Bin Zou, Huaiyu Tian, Jun Li, Huijun Guo, Fanghua Tang, Xianzhong Long, Zhongcheng Jiang, Jianping Shi, Wei Peng, Xiangming He, Biaozhi Zeng and so on.

With Geography as the main body, combing with thetheories and methods from the disciplines of Ecology, Environment, Ecology, Sociology, Management and so on, the school has long adherence in the comprehensive studies on the human and land systems in the subtropical China, the hilly and mountain areas in Southern China, the Dongting Lake Basin, the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration and so on. Based on those innovative studies, aseries of important achievements have been made in the study fields of global change and ecological forecasting, formation mechanism and prevention and control of flood and drought disasters,environmental pollution and ecological restoration,land use and land cover change,urban and rural transformation and rural development,urban agglomeration growth mechanism and regulation,national-land spatial planning, geo-spatial big data mining, natural resources remote-sensing monitoring and so on. In the past decade, the teachers of the school have completed more than 80 national-level projects, including the projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation,the National Social Science Foundation, the National Science and Technology Support Program,the National Key Research and Development Program and so on;as well as more than 200 provincial and ministerial projects and more than 800 bureau-level and application projects, with a total financial support more than 200 million yuan (RMB). In domestic and abroad journals with high academic reputation,such as Nature Plants, PNAS, Science Bulletin, Acta Geographica Sinica,more than 1,000 research papers with high quality have been published by the teachers of the school, as well as more than 30 academic monographs and textbooks. The teachers of the school have wined more that 10 provincial and ministerial awards of teaching and scientific/technological research.

The school has actively carried out exchange activities. Overseas, it has established tight cooperative relationships with famous universities and scientific institutes in the United States, Canada, Japan, Russia, Germany, Denmark, Australia, Poland and other countries. In domestic,it had fixed academic exchange mechanisms with the Chinese Academy of Sciences,Zhejiang University,Beijing Normal University, Wuhan University, Nanjing University and other high-level research institutions and universities in China. The academic visiting of young talents, joint cultivation of exchange students and cooperative researches are regularly or irregularly conducted between two sides or among multiple sides. In recent years, nearly 20 teachers have gone abroadas visiting scholars to carrying out cooperative researches,the school have hosted four international academic conferences and more than 10 national-wide academic conferences in China, including the Annual meeting of the Regional Science Association of China, the Annual meeting of Human Geography of the Geographical Society of China,the Annual meeting of Consolidation and Expansion of the Achievements made in Poverty Alleviation and its effectively link with Rural Revitalization, the First National Female Geographer Conference and so on.

Looking to the future, the school will fully implement the education policy of the Communist Party of China, implement the fundamental task of moral education and talent cultivation, adhering to the motto of Hunan Normal University of“Benevolence,Love,Mastery andDiligence”, continue to deepen reform in education and teaching, close docking and service the strategic demands of national and provincial economic and social development, firmly take the connotative development path with quality improvement as the core, keep struggling to realize his goal to be a domestic first-class “School of Geographical Sciences” with a good international reputation.
